 由於不同社會具有不同的道德觀念與標準，國際企業與組織經常性要面對關於道德方面的挑戰。尤其在景氣低迷的時候，無論組織或是個人，將會較容易受到誘惑。組織領導人在此時更應負起責任，同時以身作則。

於日前5月21日受邀至美國商會進行專題演講，討論不同文化的道德觀，並舉例商業與道德之間模糊的界線。特別的是，教授於會中分享最新由各國(包含台灣)蒐集來的資料，來比較道德與非道德的領導概念。在結論中，他亦提供建議，協助領導人做出的正確判斷，以期能同時符合企業母國以及營運當地的文化道德標準。

organizations
routinely
confront
ethical
challenges,
as they
encounter
differing
ethical
norms
and
standards
in
different
societies.
Tight
economic
conditions
can make
the
temptations
toward
unethical
behavior
stronger,
both for
organization
members
and
organizations
as a
whole.
Organizational
leaders
are the
people
most
responsible
for
navigating
these
ethical
challenges,
and for
providing
role
models
for
employees.
In a
presentation
held at
the
Grand
Formosa
Regent
Hotel on
May 21,
Dr.
Dickson
discussed
ethical
differences
across
cultures,
with
several
examples
of how
the line
between
a
business
decision
and an
ethical
decision
can
become
blurry.
He
presented
recently
gathered
data
from
several
countries
(including
Taiwan)
comparing
perceptions
of
ethical
and
unethical
leadership.
He
concluded
with
recommendations
on how
to
assist
organizational
leaders
in
making
ethical
decisions
that
will be
accepted
in both
the
organization's
home
culture
and
other
cultures
in which
the
organization
operates.

Dr.
James Culver has taught investment theory, futures and
derivatives in his capacity as a Professor in the Department
of Economics and Finance at Baruch College, The City
University of New York. He is also a specialist in the
fields of commodities, trade, and finance, distinguishing
himself in government, academia, and private sector
financial and educational services for the past 30 years.
