Professionals in the EMS-MIS will learn about emerging technologies and their role in gaining competitive advantages in the marketplace. This focus provides managers with a broad understanding of current information technologies and their utilization in formulating and implementing corporate level strategies. These strategies are applicable in the areas of marketing, finance, production operations, project management, and other essential aspects of managerial decision-making. 

Our executive program incorporates state-of-the-art technologies such as object-orientated programming languages, networks and telecommunications, the Web, electronic commerce, and multimedia applications. Highly experienced full-time faculty members teach courses in Management Information Systems and related fields. Classroom instruction is complemented by a select group of executives drawn from a diverse group of corporations and industry sectors. This infusion further strengthens the cutting-edge, real-time applicability of classroom materials.

CIS 9310 - Object-Oriented Programming 物件導向程式設計  

Managers are provided with an understanding of the concepts underlying object-oriented software development. Students are introduced to the C++ program language and basic programming concepts from the perspective of the object-oriented programming paradigm. Included among the topics are data specification and manipulation; classes and objects, and their use in object-oriented programming; C++ syntax; program structure and control flow; coding styles and techniques; and the programming implementation process, i.e., compiling, linking and testing.
CIS 9340 - Principles of Database Management Systems 資料庫管理系統  

Virtually all information systems being developed today are built upon databases. This course introduces the fundamentals of database management systems including the design and implementation of databases. The relational data model is introduced and the Structured Query Language (SQL) is used. Students develop a database from the design stages through implementation using a PC-based database management system.
CIS 9350 - Networks and Telecommunications 網路通訊科技分析與應用 

Telecommunications and networking are the lifelines of contemporary information systems. This course introduces a broad range of networking technologies and issues applications of these technologies in business settings. Special attention is paid to the Internet and the impact that it has had. Students undertake projects related to the specification and design network systems.
CIS 9490 - Systems Analysis and Design 系統分析及設計實務 

Processes, techniques and issues related to the design and development of business information systems are introduced in this course. Major topics include dataflow diagrams and CASE, structured design, feasibility, interface design, Web (html) Design, and implementation. Topics are reinforced with a term project that is used to visualize, design and develop an implementation plan for a business information system.
MGT 9610 - Dynamics of Competition, Industry Structure, and Corporate
                      Strategy 市場競爭動態、產業結構與企業策略分析 

The purpose of this course is to develop an understanding of the situation wherein the ability of a firm to create a viable strategy is largely circumscribed by the intensity of competition in the external business environment and the industry structure forces a firm to define its position. We will also study the dynamics of competition in emergent, growth, maturing, and global industries through a series of case studies.
MGT 9730 - Project Management: Strategic Design and Implementation

Study of strategic management of projects that involve change and creation of something new or different. Intended to help students better prepare for the current and future business worlds, which are characterized by change and demands for innovation. Topics include project initiation and planning, organizational structure, teamwork, leadership resource planning and scheduling, project termination, and quality and culture consideration. A variety of real cases are discussed, including service process re-engineering and development of a new product/service, computer software, an advertising program, and financial investment. Students are assigned a term project for a hands-on experience of project management.
CIS 9230 - Globalization and Technology 全球化與科技發展趨勢 

This course is relevant to managers in all disciplines who will face technological decisions in a global business environment. This course will focus on information and communication technology (ICT) environments around the world, national infrastructures and regulatory regimes, global IT applications, global IS developmental strategies, global supply chains, offshore outsourcing, global management support systems, and global IS/IT strategies. The course will provide an in-depth under-standing of managing information resources across national borders, time zones, cultures, political philosophies, regulatory regimes, and economic infrastructures. This is an interdisciplinary course covering multiple perspectives addressing technical, socioeconomic, socio-cultural, policy, regulatory, legal, and ethical issues.
CIS 9444 - E-Business Principles and Technologies 電子商務科技研討應用 

This course is a comprehensive introduction to electronic commerce taken from a CIS perspective. The issues addressed cover the technical infrastructure, business impact, and global considerations surrounding the analysis and implementation of electronic commerce.
CIS 9700 - Integrating Information Technology and Business Processes
                     商務資訊處理整合與執行 

This course describes concepts, techniques and issues related to the adoption of information technologies for business strategy. Information systems are shown to be facilitators of market penetration, competitive advantage, and organizational change. The course demystifies many contemporary and emerging technological issues that are relevant to firms. Case studies reinforce the position of these technologies to organizations.
CIS 9590 - Information Systems Development Project 資訊系統發展專案 

Students work in project teams to perform the entire project development life cycle, including analysis, design, and implementation of a prototype CIS business application. Students draw upon all previous course experiences in selecting a target application; determining application requirements; performing feasibility, data, process and constraint analysis; integrating hardware/software into a design specification; and performing the coding, testing, and documentation to implement the application. Project management techniques, including CASE technology, are required of all teams.
